OPENING SOON! - Reach for Respite day services for adults with learning disabilities
Reach for Respite staff have over 10 years of experience working with and supporting people who have Learning Disabilities. We provide a range of support services to people who have a variety of clinically diagnosed conditions including learning disabilities, behavioural difficulties, communication difficulties and medical conditions such as epilepsy. Reach for Respite work in partnership with local services and professionals to maximise our Service Users' independence, promoting inclusion in local communities and enhancing their life skills. We also encourage and support people to experience a wide range of activities, by giving support in the development of social contacts and relationships. We work with each person to help them develop a Person Centred Plan. We work with the person's wider circle including their family, friends, advocates and other professionals to ensure the plan truly reflects their needs and preferences. The plan is outcomes focused and includes details of all areas of support required to meet each person's individual needs, wishes and aspirations. We ensure support plans are reviewed regularly so that they continue to be appropriate and effective. This is done with the involvement of the Service User, their families and other professionals. The Plan will be monitored to ensure that individual goals are being met and new goals being set to ensure people are being helped to reach their potential and are accessing new opportunities.
The objective of a daytime activity service is to enhance a person's life through social interaction, opportunities to be independent and experiences to encourage self-realisation.
Daytime activities might also specifically offer a safe environment for a vulnerable person and/or a means of providing personal care. It is expected that they would normally take place away from the home environment.
Within this definition day services can be categorised in two separate ways:
Day Care:
· Where activity takes place predominantly in a specific fixed building
· Where activity typically takes place in a group setting
· Where the daily timetable starts and finishes at the same time each day
Day Opportunities:
· Where the service is delivered in variable community locations
· Where the service is delivered to an individual
· Where activities are led by individual citizen choice
